There are a lot of things to love about microfiber sofas. They are plush and look super comfy and inviting. They don’t get dirty or stained easily. They are quite durable too. But how do you keep them in perfect condition for longer? The answer is: proper upholstery cleaning. When you do it considering the microfiber specifics, you will do a fabulous job.

Weekly Vacuuming Is a Must

Start with the crevice tool to reach all corners and then use the upholstery attachment. Choose a low to medium setting to protect the soft fibers. For reducing the power of the suction even further, you can tie a piece of old nylon stocking around the opening of the crevice tool. Make three or four passes over each area. Remember to move the vacuum from left to right and to make overlapping strokes.

Cleaning with Damp Cloth for Best Results

Dampen a lint-free cloth just a little bit and make sure it is not dripping. Then use the cloth for microfiber sofa cleaning. Make gentle swipes against the fibers to remove the maximum possible amount of dirt and debris particles. Just don’t press against the surface too hard. This cleaning method prevents the sinking of the particles further down the fiber which would make the upholstery much dirtier.

How about the Use of Commercial Cleaners?

You should check what types of cleaners are safe for your particular piece of furniture. There should be a letter indicating this on the label. Whether a water-based or solvent-based cleaner is allowed, you should use it sparingly, preferably no more than several times a year. This is an effective and safe approach to microfiber couch cleaning.

If the fibers feel stiff after the job is done, you can readily comb your furniture piece with a soft scrub brush. Make sure that you move the brush in the direction of the fibers. This will help you make the surface soft and silky smooth once again. It will look fabulous too.

When it comes to stain removal, you must blot the spilled liquid first. Use white kitchen paper towel. Try to get rid of the stain with a mixture of water and a little bit of club soda. If this doesn’t work, a special type of cleaner and technique must be used to get rid of the stain completely.
